Supporting the Community: Taking part in the MK Food Bank Logo Challenge
At I Love Catering, we believe that a business is more than just a service provider—it’s a vital part of the community. Whether we’re preparing meals for parties, corporate events, or family gatherings, our mission is always to bring people together through the power of food. That’s why we couldn’t pass up the chance to participate in the MK Food Bank’s Logo Challenge, one of our charity partners.
Getting Involved
MK Food Bank plays an essential role in our community by providing food to those in need, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious and delicious food, regardless of their circumstances. When we heard about the challenge for local businesses and individuals to participate in creating a logo our of food, we saw it as an amazing opportunity to contribute to a cause that means so much to us.
Participating in the MK Food Bank logo challenge reminded us of the importance of giving back to the community in meaningful ways.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to grow and serve our clients, we remain committed to supporting local initiatives like the MK Food Bank. This experience has not only allowed us to contribute to a worthy cause but also reinforced our belief that businesses can, and should, play an active role in their communities.
Show your support
We encourage other local businesses to get involved in similar initiatives, whether through creative challenges, volunteer work, or donations. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that everyone in our community has access to the essentials they need.
Thank you to the MK Food Bank’ for organising this challenge and for all the vital work you do. And thank you to our community for your ongoing support of I Love Catering. We look forward to many more opportunities to serve you, both at your events and in initiatives like this one.
By sharing this journey, we hope to inspire others to find creative ways to give back. Whether through design, donations, or simply spreading the word, every little bit helps in making our community stronger.
When the holiday season arrives, one of the joys of gathering friends and family is sharing festive food! While sit-down meals are classic, finger food buffets bring a relaxed, social vibe that encourages mingling and conversation. Here’s a list of 10 festive finger foods you can make at home, perfect for adding flavour and cheer to any holiday get together.
Cranberry Sausage Rolls
– Classic sausage rolls get a festive twist with cranberry! Simply roll sausage meat in puff pastry and add a spoonful of cranberry sauce before sealing. Bake at 200°C until golden brown and crispy. Best served warm.
Tip: Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top for extra crunch and visual appeal.
Turkey, Cranberry, and Coleslaw Pinwheels
– These pinwheels offer a festive combination of flavours in a bite-sized package. Start with a flour tortilla (we like to use beetroot wraps), spread a thin layer of coleslaw, and add slices of turkey and a spoonful of cranberry sauce. Roll the tortilla tightly, then slice into 1-inch rounds.
Glazed Pigs in Blanket Skewers
– An upgrade on the holiday classic, these glazed pigs in blankets are both sticky and savoury. Wrap mini sausages in bacon, thread them onto skewers, and brush with a mixture of honey and Dijon mustard. Bake at 190°C for 15-20 minutes until the bacon crisps and the glaze is golden.
Cream Cheese and Bell Pepper Blinis
– For a colourful, fresh option, try cream cheese and bell pepper blinis. Simply spread softened cream cheese on mini blinis (store-bought or homemade), then top with finely diced red, yellow, and green bell peppers. The blinis are soft and creamy, while the peppers add a fresh crunch and festive colour.
Tip: Garnish with a sprig of dill or chives for extra flavour and colour contrast.
Manchego and Grape Skewers
– Simple yet elegant, these skewers combine the sharp, nutty taste of Manchego cheese with the sweetness of grapes. Alternate cubes of Manchego with green or red grapes on small cocktail sticks or skewers. They’re easy to assemble and a light option for balancing out richer foods on your table.
Mini Beef Yorkshire Puddings
– These mini Yorkshire puddings make a perfect base for beef and horseradish, creating a savoury bite that’s pure comfort food. Bake mini Yorkshire puddings (or use store-bought ones to save time), fill them with slices of roast beef, and add a dollop of horseradish sauce.
Tip: Garnish with a small sprig of rosemary for an extra festive touch.
Peach and Prosciutto Skewers
– Bring a bit of sweet and salty flair with peach and prosciutto skewers. Thread fresh or canned peach slices and ribbons of prosciutto onto skewers, adding a small ball of mozzarella for added creaminess. The prosciutto’s saltiness complements the peach’s sweetness, creating a flavourful bite that’s unexpected and delicious.
Tip: Drizzle with a balsamic glaze for a hint of sweetness and depth.
Brie and Cranberry Filo Tarts
– These bite-sized tarts bring together creamy Brie and sweet-tart cranberry sauce in crisp filo pastry cups. Fill mini filo tart shells with a small slice of Brie and a teaspoon of cranberry sauce. Bake at 180°C for 8-10 minutes until the cheese melts. They’re rich, gooey, and perfect for the season.
Tip: Add a sprinkle of chopped walnuts or pistachios for texture and crunch.
Smoked Salmon Blinis
– Sophisticated yet simple, smoked salmon blinis are a classic. Spread a dollop of crème fraiche or sour cream on each mini blini, top with a piece of smoked salmon, and garnish with a sprig of fresh dill and a squeeze of lemon juice. These are light, refreshing, and offer a gourmet touch to any holiday spread.
Brie and Sundried Tomato Mini Quiches
– For a warm, savoury bite with a Mediterranean twist, try these mini brie and sundried tomato quiches. Use pre-made mini pastry shells or make your own with puff pastry, fitting them into a mini muffin tin. Fill each shell with a small slice of Brie, a few pieces of chopped sundried tomatoes, and a mixture of beaten eggs, a splash of cream, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Bake at 190°C for 10-12 minutes, until golden and set. The creamy Brie melts beautifully into the quiche, and the sundried tomatoes add a tangy, rich flavour.
Tip: Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh basil or thyme for a burst of colour and added flavour.
These festive finger foods are easy to make, look gorgeous on the table, and bring a variety of flavours and textures to any gathering. Whether you’re hosting a large party or a small holiday meal, these options offer something for every guest to enjoy! Happy Holidays!

At I Love Catering, we’re passionate about supporting local businesses in every way we can. This year, we’re thrilled to feature some incredible local produce on our menus, giving our customers a true taste of homemade chutney in Milton Keynes and beyond.
From the fiery Chuffing Chilli Jam to the classic Chunky Sandwich Pickle, our kitchen has been buzzing with creations from homemade chutney in Milton Keynes. We’ve also encouraged our audience to try these delectable recipes at home, bringing a bit of local flavor to their own kitchens.
One of our star collaborations is with Jam Moo Know, a family-run business specializing in jams, marmalades, and chutneys made with homegrown fruits, vegetables, and locally sourced ingredients. Their Chunky Sandwich Pickle pairs beautifully with gammon ham, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber, making for the ultimate Ploughman’s Sandwich. And let’s be honest—who doesn’t love a pickle-topped pork pie?
Next, we have Green Kitchen Preserves, where Alison’s handmade creations are inspired by her husband’s Northamptonshire allotment. Our limited-edition sandwich featuring sliced turkey, Beetroot and Horseradish Chutney, and rocket is an absolute standout. It’s one of our all-time favorite combinations!
From Garden To Jar
We also loved showcasing the flavorful Pumpkin, Tomato, and Chilli Chutney from Garden To Jar, a fantastic local business based in Newport Pagnell. Kevin, the mastermind behind the chutneys, grows his own fruits and vegetables to create these vibrant jars of goodness. After tasting this chutney at Olney Farmer’s Market, we couldn’t wait to share it with our customers!
For those who crave a bit of heat, Crafted by P’sChuffing Chilli Jam is a must-try. This chutney is, quite literally, chuffing delicious! Don’t miss our Chuffing Chilli Club Sandwich recipe, available now on our social media pages.
Last but certainly not least, Friars Farm offers a delightful selection of homemade jams and chutneys. One that stole the spotlight for us is their unique Cranberry Salsa. You can find Friars Farm at various local markets, or visit their newly opened Artisan Collective Farmshop in Milton Keynes and Northampton for even more local treats.
